Everton around the world ??

Everybody who's a footie fan in the states seems to like us, they just root for one of the other 4.

Not so. We don't get much mainstream coverage here (ESPN will carry Champions League matches) and unless you get a subscription to FSC, Setanta or Sky Sports, the typical exposure is minimal. So, the teams that most Americans see are the Big 4 hence the connection.

I'd agree that the typical American footie fan is at worst ambivalent towards Everton - for Americans, Everton lack big star names (not sure that most even know where Howard plays when not playing for the National Team and certainly very few have heard of Arteta) but there's also no reason to dislike Everton like there is for the Big 4.

However, there are a few of us that are true blue. The others are simply ignorant.

To be fair though the same can be said for anywhere in the UK outside or Merseyside lol regarding the Sky 4 being everywhere and the odd evertonian few and far between.

But you do get the genuine football fans that talk to you rather than the fans who just follow the team/sport as a trend. It seems a common world wide "problem"/bond.

I'm slightly surprised with Spurs being mentioned. I'm guessing the southern teams are gonna be slightly more known than the northern teams who, world wide, will probably just be Man Utd and the RS.

Anyone see the crazy Real Madrid fan holding up an Everton scarf like it was his favourite team last night? That was funny.

Funny indeed. I guess when your team fails to beat the Sh*te, best support the side that did(y)

Skem here

People treat us like we're from another planet so figured I should stick my presence in here.

"You're the only Everton fan I have ever met"

The reason fo that is we are very exclusive and do no take any old riffraff!

Glad to see on one post that the German commentators agreed with what I was thinking that Fellaini should have had a couple of penalties.(y)

In oz in it will be billed as Mighty Man United v Tim Cahills Everton,if you have an Aussie in the team you will get air time on the news(y)

Ive lived in loads of different places across Europe and Latin America.

Basically, being honest - if I say Im from Liverpool they assume Im an Everton fan. Unless some who know they stuff, which isnt many.

Even listening to the commentary on the Mexican channel of the Liverpool FA Cup games they were demeaning Everton.

Starting to get a few more knowledgable about Everton now again like, thanks to some decent profile players and good results. Shows you how fickle footie is.

But I guess having Chang as the sponsor does help the club's profile in South East Asia as it's a huge beer in Thailand and they market the beer with Arteta on the packaging!
Chang is awesome in south-east asia. they do a lot for awareness. our public buses in Singapore were covered with Everton/Chang sponsorship. it was great when my bus pulled up and i was greeted by Arteta, Ossie, Cahill & gang on the side.

and in Malaysia, i always go to this hotel in Johor Bahru and their duty free store always has some Everton/Chang promotional stuff going on. so, although their beer tastes like ****, they have been great partners for EFC, imo.

Too bad they have all these carlsberg ads with you-know-who plastered all over them too.. zzz

But yeah it was nice to see a bus with Arteta, Ozzie and Cahill on the side!

People have heard of Everton in Denmark, but it is Liverpool and United that get the press and support. Even in Frederikshavn, population 25,000, you can buy a Liverpool or United shirt. What is worse, I've noticed a lot of people walking around in both these shirts. What is even worse than that, Liverpool supporters here outnumber even United supporters. I've yet to meet anyone that has any affinity for Everton. In saying that, some people have said things like: Oh, Everton are a good team. So we're getting there.

In Austria the club is well known especially since the glorious victory of the European Cup vs Rapid Vienna in 1985. Plus Everton is sometimes going to summer training camps in Austria so the people know the teams key players at least.

When I was in Borneo I came across a couple of local guys who were wearing Everton shirts. On asking them whether they supported Everton and knew anything about it, they were actually quite knowledgeable.

But they also followed Liverpool closely and said they were their joint favourite team. I'm not sure they quite get it. (n)

I have worked in Argentina and stayed in Buenos Aires. In the sports shops, there was only 4 shirts from the British Isles.Celtic, Rangers, Man Utd and 1 other that I wont mention.
When I told people there who I supported, they'd never heard of us.Mention the city of Liverpool and 1 thing comes back at you, well 2 really-The Beatles and You know who.
