Everton and VAR

He stepped on his foot and prevented the player from challenging for the ball. Or, it's no penalty and just a coming together. My point is that it's not clear and the ref should have been told to look at the monitor I'd have been shouting for it if it was us.

Ian Wright was saying that they have taken the word “ intent” out of the rule and so it should have been a pen given the rule change. He also went on to say that the rule change was stupid and that it’s ridiculous if pens are doing to be awarded for them incidents every week

This is the one I was thinking of

Although his sportsmanship wasn't as good as I remember, he just took a bad penalty that Mcateer scored the rebound for and then the two of them celebrated. It's amazing they still manage to surpass my low expectations.

Think all my partying in my 20’s is finally catching up with me ... that is the one I remember, only it was against Leeds and he scored lol

Funny to think how many of VARs supporters before it's introduction had the strange idea that it would end the preferential decisions given in favour of the successful clubs. Funny also that we were seduced into believing that VAR would not look at making decisions where there was too much subjectivity likely.

Var is rigged in favor of the scum

Accounts fella at work was showing us files last night which shows they have paid in part for Var.

It’s still open to interpretation and therefore bias , human error and corruption. I was disgusted with that decision on the weekend and cannot believe that the RS weren’t awarded a pen when Keane stood on the strikers foot . In seriousness I can’t see why it was given, I mean by the letter of the law it was , the problem I have is that so was Richarlisons. If richys wasn’t a pen then that means Mina’s goal was disallowed for what exactly ? We are all aware that keane’s “ challenge” happens probably 30 -40 times a season across all the games but the laws will not be applied equally or consistently and that is the problem. There is no line or consistent rule that you can adhere to, so when defending etx you don’t know what is going to be given or not.

I thought VAR was going to be used differently, to be honest. Didn't expect it to pretty much take the referee out of the decision-making process, so to speak.

Imagine if we had likes Clive Thomas monitoring VAR. He would've volunteered for every one of our matches lol

This is why I've by a large given up on football, yes I'll always be a blue but it's too corrupt nowadays. As we were discussing on the other thread about the RS, the money comes from the TV companies. The clubs who have the largest number of armchair supporters tend to get the decisions, Man United and Arsenal are beyond help really, so really it's only Liverpool to a lesser extent Chelsea and City who bring in the money. The Clattenburg game, wasn't simply a case of bad refereeing, it was blatant corruption. The problem is when the TV money kicked in, clubs like Liverpool, United, Arsenal and Chelsea were able to build international followings, that bring in huge amount of money. So when we were challenging them in 2007/2008 they needed to make it hard for us, it was found out that we lost 12 points that season they would of got us into the top 4. It took City nearly 10 years to properly challenge them and it looks like Spurs, challenging for trophies is over now.
I have seen loads of poor displays by ref's but only ever seen one referee who has been biased in favour of one team and that was Clattenberg. Apart from the Carragher incident's he didn't send off The Ork for that shocking challenge on Neville and even shook Gerrard's hand that day when he was substituted.

Then mysteriously didn't referee us for years.....

Have never understood how any linesman is supposed to have 2 sets of eyes. For well over 100 years the game was completely flawed
by the offside rule.

How is any hunman with correctly formed eyes supposed to watch something `over their' and `something way over there' at the same time???
One for when the ball is `played' and the other set on whether a player has 2 opposition players behind him.

Was always completely ridiculous to expect any sort of accuracy.

I could possibly understand if you had to be cross eyes, or have 2 sets of eyes to qualify as a linesman.

VAR would be better suited to a “LIVE” supplement to the existing linesman, rather than a second guess after the fact.

I think footy survived happily for years before they started messing about with the offside rule and made it totally ridiculous. I used to be able to explain it to my lads, but could they do it to theirs? And this is before we add in VAR.

Gallagher said it was a penalty on a show that we don't get in Australia, but Peter Walton said that he wouldn't have given it on ESPN FC, a show that we do.

It was the sort of incident that you could put up a case for either decision, but in those 'iffy' ones I think the referee should ask himself ' was he in a real position
to score had there been no contact'. I'd have to go back and have another look at this one, but I don't think he was.
