You can look at the whole line and say the same to any defender or any attacker being blocked from attacking the ball. Hence the subjective nature.

The refs felt that the player WOULD have done something to help prevent a goal. I think that's complete rubbish.

Flip it on its head...If an attacker is blocked off, would that be a foul as it effected play?
