Moyes better win that game - for his own sake as much as ours.

He will not be judged too well if we're eliminated early from this one too.

...and Sunderland are in a worse position to us regarding players out due to injury and AFCON, so he'll have to come up with another excuse if we do get KO'd.
You would hope that Moyes gives this cup his full attention, if he "rests" players he needs a kicking, put out the strongest 11 it's been far too long since we've won anything.

Exactly.

Sunderland at home against a weakened promoted outfit is in 'must win' territory, no matter how decent a season they're having.

They'll get wrecked by City tonight.

Well said. No reason why we can't give the cup a good go this season as we've got nothing truly tangible to play for league wise as we're not quite consistent enough currently to finish top 7 imo
I think we have the squad to finish top 7 in a season where 9 PL clubs are involved in Europe.

No reason at all we cant get top 7. We defo cant miss getting top 10, that's for sure.

But this club has a great cup tradition. We may have only won 5 FA Cups but we have a massively impressive record at reaching finals and at least SFs.

We need a long extended run again after not doing so for 12/13 years. That's way too long for this football club.

Not squad but our first 11 is very capable even if we have a couple of positions that need improvement. Cup competitions are decided on fine margins a lot of the time so with a good draw and with refereeing decisions going in our favour (big if this) then who knows what can happen. The top sides aren't at the levels of previous seasons imo so this is as good as an opportunity as any

Home advantage will determine this...or it should.

We were easily the better team first half up there when they had all their best players on the pitch.

This is a win. It has to be.

We've gotten to one final and a handful of semi finals during my lifetime that I can remember.
