The jobless man in me decided to check the substitute stats and it makes for interesting reading. Bar Palace and ourselves in a way, teams higher up the league use more subs. We're currently bottom. Davey really needs to trust his bench more. Will see what he has to say in the presser

….the way I read that, Wolves are top of that substitutes table and bottom of the league.

It’s not about how many substitutions a team makes, its the impact substitutes have.

Much prefer playing teams in form surprisingly, we always seem to to worse against teams out of form.

No real gaps appearing in the league table yet so a win would be great going into the international break.

Doubt Moyes will be that adventurous but really hope we try something new in the forward position. Maybe get Ndiaye or Alcaraz in the false 9

That injury update is a bit of a kick in the knackers. I assume it'll be a very similar team to Monday but with Iroegbunam in for KDH. Not optimistic about a result, tbh.

The positive call would be Alcaraz for KDH. Says it all really..............
Yeah, I said the same on another thread. Don't see Moyes doing it but you never know, I guess? We've been a safety first club since Martinez, really (maybe not for a couple of games under Silva and Lampard, perhaps, but they are much less expansive than some on here make out).

as for the calls for N'Diaye as a false 9 - surely fantasy land with Moyes in charge. Best we can hope for is Alcaraz oe N'Diaye in for KDF but we will get Iroegbunam, we all know it.

Point taken but there's always nuance to stats. Generally it suggests teams do better when they use their bench more. Just to put fresh legs on especially for us as certain players are usually blowing after 60-65mins. We were crying out for changes v Villa and West Ham just to freshen things up so we could possibly win the game. End up drawing both. All have our opinions but I think there's something to it.

Mateta was a dead-loss for a long time at Palace but he came good as a result of playing games. Barry could easily do the same if given the same time. Beto on the other hand seems to have regressed.
To be fair, Beto has (pretty much) been a dead-loss for a long time at Everton so at least he's accomplished the first part of the bargain.

….important to remember that the Manager also has to think about not losing the game. I’ve not been concerned about substitutions, I thought the ones v West Ham were obvious and wasn’t thinking of others as I watched the game.
