Being slightly better out of a bad bunch isn’t good enough. It’s the Keane Tarkwoski argument this season. Just because Davies Schneiderlin Klaassen Allan Doucoure weren’t good enough doesn’t make Idrissa Gueye being marginally better good enough either.

The game is now about players combining pace power technique tactical awareness. He doesn’t have any of these things. He has an ability to nick the ball in front of his own penalty area at times, that’s it, that doesn’t make a top midfielder.

All you need to do is watch us in our build up, teams don’t give Grealish Ndiaye or even Garner a second to get their head up and pick a pass. They all sit off Gueye because they know he’s either about to just pass it to them anyway, or play it backwards/sideways.
