I saw nothing to be excited about last night apart from the intro and some bangers being played, and a pretty light show.

The footy was retrograde bollocks from Moyes, hamstrung attacking players and useless strikers. I love Beto but he isn't the answer, would like to see him benched and Barry given a good few games to prove us right or wrong, but god bless us and our curse of garbage strikers.

If Summerville stays on they win that.

2nd half they pushed Summerville inside on Tarki because they knew he was on a yellow, and his pace would draw a foul.

Not sure if he was injured or not but Santo taking him off was potentially one of the worst subs I've seen an opposition manager make.

I think going forward Moyes is going to have to be more pro-active with his subs because teams as we've seen are going to come to BM and sit in.

Yes, everyone around me heaved a sigh of relief when he went off.

Weird decision if Summerville wasn’t injured or goosed.

Just going back through a load of the comments I have to say I don't know what game some people watched. People saying we should have been 3 or 4 up at half time?! I can only remember KDH's header that was any sort of proper chance other than the goal. The possession stats were 51-49 and they had more shots but there's people saying we dominated the whole game and they just sat in and made it difficult to break them down? I thought we started both halves better but overall we were probably quite lucky to get a point, they caused us a lot more problems than we caused them.

Yep, as is often the case, takes the opposition about 20 minutes to realise we are pretty crap and they can actually start to dominate. Was a good job Keane had one of his better games.

Just all-round poor last night.
Like a lot of people have said, we’re not going to fix our issues in one transfer window, and we remain a Frankenstein’s Monster of a team because of our recent past.

We just became too predictable last night. Whatever happened to wide players who could drive to the by-line and fizz a cross in? Ndiaye had a shocker and Grealish needs to be reminded that we don’t have De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva lurking on the edge of the box for him.
That is the problem.
When our creative players have an off night, it makes life difficult, especially against a team that drops deep and we don't have a prolific goal scorer.
Try something different rotate Grealish Ndiaye or Alcarez into the number 10. Make it less predictable and one dimensional.
There should be enough goals, in the midfield to cause teams problems.

I think it is also a rhythm borne from a counter attacking strategy on their behalf. We have lots of possession but there isn't a huge amount of space to create clear cut chances. Lots of the ball around the box and crosses.

They then figure out how they can hurt us on the counter, and create clearer opportunities.

Few tactical tweaks at half time, rinse and repeat

Unfortunately last night showed where we are at as a club and it is still nowhere near where any of us want to be. It is just the reality of it. A lot of glaring holes in the side but I think the most frustrating part is we have known what these holes are for a few seasons now and have yet to be addressed.

On to Palace though. They are a much better side but I think we are capable of coming out of there with a point.

Dont think we do well on the front foot. Our players ae a bit bemused by a deep back four. No space behind for a slide rule pass for Beto to run onto and both Grealish and N'Diaye are double teamed when the back four and MF are in place and settled. We do much better on the sort of breaks like the KDH goal agains Wolves in the league.
Palace might give us headaches this weekend but I think the game might suit our front 4 more.

Totally agree.

When a team sit that deep a few things need to happen. Firstly, the centre backs become midfielders and pick the ball up in advanced positions. They need to be able to switch play quickly and keep the ball moving. Secondly, the full-backs are often the ones who receive the final pass on the overload, and need to be able to make good attacking decisions in the final third, either crosses or cut-backs. And thirdly, you need a No.9 who has the guile, movement and power to win headers in a packed 18 yard box. And a slight intangible; you often need a rabid home crowd to create that extra pressure and will the ball into the back of the net. These are all things we don't have (yet)!

We are much better when teams want to attack us and there is that extra space in the wide areas, half spaces and behind the backline. I think we will probably be a better team away from home this year as a result.

Yes. And the worst part of it is that money was there in the summer to get a proper striker and RB in but it was wasted.
