West ham are in a false position, and have some class players.

They are a good team in reality, and when they showed it…they looked tge better team.

Its no shock.

We just dont create enough when on top in games.

I feel we need that number 10 to be closer to the striker…..kdh is playing more like a box to box 8.
If we can get Rohl into the team then his mobility should allow KDH to stay closer to the striker.

West Ham have clearly got good players. You wonder if we had Diouf bombing on past Grealish if the outcome would be better. On Grealish, he is clearly class but he slows things down a lot. Sometimes a bit of chaos is needed instead of allowing their back line to organise. The 1st goal against Brighton was quick and decisive.

Moyes should have seen that changes were needed. Not a lot was required to put them under pressure.

I would like to see a few more tactical fouls too. They made loads and that won them a point. There was an opportunity to hack someone in the build up to their goal. Midfield absolutely miles away from helping too.

On reflection, D+ transfer window as only a handful have contributed
Fully agree about the tactical fouls. I think O'Brian could have simply walked across and obstructed Diouf to take him out for their goal. He had a booking to give and it probably forces Moyes to take him off. Win win at that stage.

I'm sure all the smartarses on here will be mumbling their normal nonsense about bedwetters. Some old, same old. Nothing ever changes at this club. Its getting closer and closer to FORTY years of pure garbage from the club and the people who take the most abuse are the fans who simply want more.

Its one decent win. One passable league cup win and two bitterly disappointing draws. The exact same results you'd expect at Goodison on the worst of seasons. All possible momentum and positivity gone like it was never there.

Went the match, won't regurgitate what others have said. Just that Beto has the movement of :

Watching him live it's stark to see his lack of positional awareness, notwithstanding the service to him, he is just so one dimensional, and even that dimension is crap.will

Yet another waste of money to join the increasing litany of duds. It's just a monumental failure in failing to see how bad Beto (and others) actually are. So much for the exhaustive scouting network, in depth player reports, the manager's input - all culminating in signing a player who it is patently obvious to everyone is not going to succeed. Other clubs manage to find competent strikers, but oh no, not us, I'm beginning to think we never will.
Kean, Rondon, Ramirez, Tosun, Beto, Barry.

At the final whistle I was surprised the Hammers hadn't snatched all 3 points. They were fast on the counter and left us floundering too many times. On the other hand we are so ponderous at times, it's almost as if our players have an instruction that each of them has to touch the ball at least twice while moving the ball from the back to the opposition penalty area. There was too much "trap the ball, turn and pass it back". We need a striker, and Grealish needs to back himself by taking a shot himself now and then. KDH unlucky to get another yellow.

I went for Garner as my MoM though I was leaning towards Michael Keane.

People always gripe about the lack of pace in the midfield or attack I think the current back four is significantly lacking in pace and a highly mobile opposing attacker especially later in the game has the ability to just weave past them with ease
We can play 5 to 10 yards higher up the field and cut the space between the lines when JB plays. It's very important we can get him back and he can stay fit.

We're within our rights to criticise performances but a bit of perspective is needed given where we were at the beginning of the calendar year and where we are now. We didn't play amazing, yes, and some of that is down to individual performances or tactical shortcomings of the manager, but a lot of it is still down to the personnel we have (or, more accurately, the personnel we don't have). We've strengthen in a lot of important areas but we were never going to correct everything in one transfer window. Everyone will have their opinions about whether we prioritised recruitment in the right areas and the quality of that recruitment, but some of that was taken out of our hands by those who left at the end of their contracts and/or refused to accept extensions on lower wages.

On top of that, we played a good quality side who have massively underperformed this year or been unlucky not to get more from some of their games. Watching WHU this season, within games they have still looked a real threat going forward and (IMO) they were always going to create chances last night and score. Ultimately the match up pointed to a draw; their best and worst areas of the pitch equal ours (like us they have a lot of strength in forward areas but are limited in defence). Coupled with the slightly clunky atmos while we get used to the new Stadium (home advantage less likely to tip the balance in favour of us in tight games) and perhaps last night was to be expected.

A draw isn't the end of the world and in general (much like the Ancelotti season) I think we will be more of a threat away from home this year - especially when teams are compelled to attack us more and leave space for our attacking players on the counter.

Totally agree, what do they do in training during the week ? Do they practice passing sideways and back again ! Also the lack of movement was terrible.
