That said, I agree with you. That's a strong squad, Herrera is a fantastic signing, you'll be in the top four comfortably IMO, probably top three. It all depends on just how good van Gaal is whether you can overhaul City and Chelsea this season, but I don't have much doubt that you'll finish above Arsenal and Liverpool.

We need a decent centre back and a defensive midfielder desperately though

You don't know that yet. Obviously premature - same mistake you made with Moyes.

I think he will be, hence why I think you'll be top four with a degree of comfort, but it remains to be seen for sure.
 


United will get a boost because RVP will play this season and they don't have Europe.

They're not good enough to win the league, but it's silly to assume they're stuck down in 6th-7th again.
