The clubs know they'd quickly lose relevance and fans if not competing at the top regularly.

I wouldn't want Everton to join any European Premier League.

Definitely, there's got to be a firm stance there's no coming back though, they leave now then they leave for good. They can setup their own supporters team like afc Manchester united or whatever they're called, start again right at the bottom.

So essentially them giving up their CL spots for fixed entry into a FIFA backed european competition, while remaining in the PL is what they seem to want through this.

I've said before on another thread, that it's made absolutely clear to any team leaving the PL to join an European league that under no circumstances will they be let back into the English league at any level.

I posted this in march and I stick by it, under no circumstances should any team that leaves be allowed back in ever.

it's essentially a swap for Champions league though. No suggestion the trade off would be leaving the PL, their hope is to screw over UEFA and esssentially the 14 by locking in the qualifiers to a new European league, undermining and thus killing the revenue from the CL

Thats the aim just a beefed up CL,the games get played over the weekend for maximum coverage and they want the PL games played midweek,English clubs dont want to lose the Sky pound and the European teams want a snout in a trough
