So.. 6th place is Champions league if Villa win the Europa and finish 5th. Entirely possible I would say.

Only problem is, Liverpool are the only team with a realistic chance of overhauling Villa at this point.

Soo.. take solace in the fact that if Liverpool beat us at the weekend - it’s actually done our Champions league hopes the world of good.

Was looking at the fixtures yesterday. Aside from maybe 2 teams, everyone has something to play for and they all play each other. Even wolves are playing to make sure they aren’t bottom.

The next few weeks are going to be great!

Judging from this year (might need more players for the amount of games) we would do very well in the Europa and conference league.

Champions league would be amazing for the money and big games, but we'd just become cannon fodder in the knock outs.

I think so? It has to do with that 5th spot being given due to country coefficient. The way they give out the standard 4 players they can be replaced with a team that wins Europa or CL, but because of the rules regarding them giving out the country coefficient 5th spot, they cant just not give it. It has to be used, so if that Europa/CL winner ends up in that spot they have to bump it down...

Thats my understanding of the new convoluted process at least.

You cant qualify for the CL via the League below 5th.

If we dont finish 5th or higher we wont be in the CL.

There can be 11 teams from England in Europe, but now LFC are out, would require Arsenal to finish 8th, and win CL, Forest to win Europa, and Palace win the Conference and not qualify via the league.

Yeah, this is right. If we did lose vs LFC and get to a position where we’re unlikely to catch them, it’d actually be better if they went on a great run and caught Villa to put them into 5th… if we could then finish 6th

Well I’m going on the BBC explainer on the previous page, and they are clear that 6 teams CAN qualify in circumstances described.

6 teams can qualify, but only if Villa finish ooutside the top 5 of Forest win it.

Skysports AND BBC are correct, but Everton wont play cl football if we finish 6th.

That will
Change if Leeds or Southampton win the FA Cup i. Which case

7 conference
8 FA CUP

Considering the past few seasons turned me into an alcoholic and a lover of shrooms, finishing top 8 is like winning the lottery. Not sure what else one would need to see to consider that an improvement.

The article i read had as many as 10 places in the Prem qualifying for Europe.
All depending on results of English teams winning the 3 European competitions and our domestic cups.

Thats half the league ....blimey .
