Neiler

Player Valuation: £100m
Was just doing some research on next seasons compititon.

Ive been banging on for a while about the collective bargaining change in terms of negotiating TV Rights for the Europa Cup, following the same system as the Champions Leauge. Although nothing has been confirmed by Uefa the BBC sports editor Mihir Bose reckons a pot of 150 mill euro is in the offing.

To put this in perspective in last seasons whole comptiton the pot was in and around 40 mill euros or the equivlent of £32mill.

Nice big jump hopefully we can get our hands on a little more cash from Europe.

I can't wait to see who we got in the playoff, can't wait for the away. Hopefully we get someone in Spain etc.

We still may go straight through to the group stages. UEFA have yet to decide but knowing them we will have to enter the play-off round. Currently at this situation, the following may happen, when UEFA make their decision who knows.

As the title holder Shakhtar Donetsk qualified for the UEFA Champions League, the original allocation places will be altered to compensate for the vacant title holder spot in the group stage. However, it is unknown how UEFA will compensate for this. The following information is based on the theory that no club will replace the Title Holder spot. In this case, the Swiss Cup winner Sion and Bulgarian Cup winner Litex Lovech, will move from the third qualifying round to the Play-off round, the Cypriot Cup winner APOP and Slovenian Cup winner Interblock Ljubljana will move from the second qualifying round to the third, and the Andorran Cup winner FC Santa Coloma and San Marino Cup winner Juvenes/Dogana, along with Derry City and runner-up from Renova, will move from the first qualifying round to the second.

If UEFA decide to replace the Title Holder spot, the following alterations will be made: Everton, the highest-placed team among the English participants in Europa League, will move from the Play-off round to the group stage, the Bulgarian Cup winner Litex Lovech will move from the Play-off round to the third qualifying round, the Slovenian Cup winner Interblock Ljubljana will move from the third qualifying round to the second, and Derry City and Renova will move from the second qualifying round to the first.

The last thing we need is a strong Spanish side, Villareal over again!:o

If your looking for a nice mini break, Cyprus would be nice, and should allow us to porgress to claim a chunk of the pot of money! (y)

"As the title holder Shakhtar Donetsk qualified for the UEFA Champions League"

Is this true, the winner qualifies for the Champions League the following season? May be worth winning after all, Especialy as the winner will also get a large chunk of the £140M prize fund! (y)

Pretty sure we were 2nd seed last year and 3rd seed this year, Standard are pretty low in the seeds

doesn't it mean they are champions of their domestic league & so qualify for the cl?

Why do we go straight to the group stages? Does the club in the highest place in the highest ranked league take their place?

Seeding in the Europa League 2009/2010

"However, the details of not using the title holder spots in the access list are not written in the regulations (the only rule is that priority is given to champions and cup winners). And because this is the first year with the new Europa League format there is some uncertainty about the method UEFA will use to fill the empty title holder spot in the Europa League. UEFA might decide to give one team of the 4th qualifying round (playoff round) direct access to the group stage".

At present we are still a seeded team in the 4th qualifying round, and could meet the likes of Aberdeen, Hearts, Red Star Belgrade, Tranzonspor, Rapid Vienna (remember 85) - no others of real note yet, but it looks like two lots of CL failures comes in to the draw...
