Are the England team working hand in hand with the government, to assist with this soon to be avalanche of jingoism ?

I only ask this, as you have previously alluded to the fact, that the England team are representing the Tory party on the pitch.

In Dave’s head this is all like Escape to Victory. The hand picked team of BoJo will lay waste to all comers, but then a scrappy coalition of Socialist superstars spearheaded by the big Corbz will challenge them. Sadly because Dave has imagined Rebecca Long Bailey as the teams cheerleader no football is actually played in this fantasy and Dave has to change his Y Fronts yet again.

But I view the position of England's football team in this tournament as being similar to the predicament the Brazil team of 1970 and the Argentina team of 1978 found themselves in: knowing that any succss would be used as an affirmation of a regime.

You can be sure if England reached the final on Sunday and won it the government would exploit it to the full and the about to be massively out of control Covid19 infection rates thereafter will be lost in an avalanche of jingoism.

As said, not an exact parallel, as we dont live under a military junta. But it's not so much of a stretch to be dismissed out of hand.
