You get good matchups in the earlier rounds, but by the semifinal you've got four good teams and big pressure on everyone.

And you can realistically make a case for any of them to win the thing. From what I have watched, Italy and England are the better sides, and I think would make a decent final. But like you say, P.

Right, Italy and England are both the favorites but it's more 60/40 than 80/20.

It's hard to be an overwhelming favorite in soccer. High variance game due to low scoring. They can net once, you can hit the woodwork thrice because fate flips you off three times, and you lose.
