The “intentional or not” rule has done my head in over the years. Bottom line - If you slide in for a tackle with every intention of winning the ball, and don’t, it’s a pen; if your hand isn’t by your side and the ball hits it, it’s a pen.
Feel free to vault me when I’m raging over us conceding a pen like this on the opening day.
