Just leave in the WTO again watch the DP show again today - our trade with Europe forecast to drop to a mere 35% quote by a prominent Brexit minister! The EU in negotiations for trade is as slow as a lame Donkey pulling a heavy carriage- saying deals with the USA could be done overnight - even leaving the customs union partially to our advantage is on we just need freedom from the EU - deals can be done in the single market on our terms not theirs!
Italy again raised as the key to the Euro being crashed!

Yep mate but that article was mostly about science and how we will lose the benefits of collaboration. Thoughts?

That's life though isn't it Pete? I was just talking to the innovation director at Samsung, and the idea of having all of the expertise you need on the payroll is rather old fashioned, because company's realise it's impossible to do. So, instead they just try and make sure they have access to it through partnerships and being open with others.

People view the nation as a company these days, I have to say I find that sad and wrong.

Seems a bit silly to go through all this upheaval to then return to what we had originally? I mean that's the essence of trade really isn't it, to avoid the need to vertically integrate everything. Adam Smith and all that.

It won't be quite the same, we will have reintroduced capability and skills into the UK while still sharing with the EU competence centre......

So why didn't he move back before anyway.......oh yeah, we paid more......

is that meant to be a rebuttal? "you" didn't pay more - most of the grants came from the EU, which is now obviously no longer possible. and as a result, the currency that you have to pay people like this with has collapsed.

hence, the people you said you want to attract want nothing to do with you.

Not at all. It's more appreciating the way humans interact with one another. Whilst there are many things the EU do badly, this collaborative approach is something they do very well, and it's encouraged from the very top from Carlos Moedas down.

I think you will find that we are still in the EU. If a man wishes to go back to Ireland because our currency isn't good enough then I hope he has a pleasant journey. I didn't say anything about attracting people, we have plenty of scientists...

As the article states however, unless we plan on diverging from what happens in Europe, we'll be duplicating what already exists and works quite well. If we are planning on diverging, it threatens to add considerable 'non-tariff' costs to trade.

In both directions....Look upon it as another opportunity for our science and engineering people....

And there we have it....let's just poke Putin in the eye.....

European Union states agreed on Thursday to waive visas for Ukrainians on short visits, (and ignored the Dutch referendum result), but only after the bloc beefs up a mechanism to suspend visa-free agreements in an emergency.

Ukraine, a former Soviet republic, has fostered closer ties with the EU since Moscow annexed its Black Sea peninsula of Crimea in 2014 and started backing rebels fighting Kiev's troops in the east of the country.

Many difficulties to progress remain, not least Ukraine's sluggish fight against endemic corruption and the EU's caution on immigration after the arrival of about 1.3 million refugees and migrants in 2015, mainly from the Middle East and North Africa.

But, a week before an EU-Ukraine summit on Nov. 24, EU states gave their conditional backing to allowing Ukrainians to travel visa-free to the bloc for short visits.

Implementation, however, will take time as further negotiations are needed between the EU states, the European Parliament and the bloc's executive European Commission.

The decision on Thursday also says visa liberalization for Ukraine should not take effect until after the bloc - wary of a repeat of last year's refugee influx - rolls out a beefed-up mechanism to lift any visa waivers in case of emergency.

Talks on the so-called suspension mechanism have been making slow progress and diplomats say it could take weeks before it is in place.

I disagree with that totally. When we have left will UK citizens be allowed visa free travel?

I would rather sack our MEP's who do sod all and recruit more well deserving scientists and engineers to do the work on behalf of and for the benefit of the UK. No wonder it was buried...

It does show however just how much national technical competence we have given away, it'll be good to get it all back....

I didn't say anything about attracting people, we have plenty of scientists...
