The point is that it would do a lot of harm to the Texas economy and not really affect the rest of the US much. Similar to what will happen to Britain. The rest of Europe will get along fine, England will suffer.

I work for a bank (in foreign exchange) in Europe, we have significant trading operations in London. All those jobs are probably gone, to Paris or Amsterdam or somewhere else on the continent. It doesn't matter what the result of trade negotiations will be, the people in charge will take steps to avoid any risk beforehand. A lot of people are going to be out of work because of this. There are going to be very real, very tangible consequences even before any sort of negotiations are entered into.
Oh I'm not debating that point at all, I think people mistook my statement to be referring to "brexit" when I was asking specifically about Scotland/NI leaving the UK. Not the UK leaving the EU

Wow. Did not see that coming.

But fantastic results. We won't leave the EU, it will reform and probably come back to another referendum but that is beside the point. The country has finally had a say in something and took the brave choice over the safe one. Is it the right one? Who knows, but if over 50%of the population want to leave then it is hard to then call them stupid because it puts them in the slight majority.

Change is coming and the public have finally influenced proceedings different to what they were told to think.

Was something many of those that wanted to leave hung their hat on. Even plastered it on a bus.

No plan at all. Very worrying.

Lies lies more damed lies

A voice of reason amongst a crowd of hysterics ;)

Liverpool votes to remain and was was wished malice upon and then referred to as 'Benefits Central' by Katie Hopkins, the staunch 'Out' voter.

I'd like a referendum on Liverpool's association with the United Kingdom. We didn't vote for this.

London would like to join the Social Democracy of Scotland, NI and Liverpool (maybe the Mancs as well). We're prepared to negotiate to be accepted in: my first offer is to leave Chelsea and West Ham fans in the old England
