I know what you're saying here, but that statement is untrue. The majority of the actual voters voted Leave. There's a huge proportion of the population who never had the chance.
I was 12 when the country voted to go into the EU and had no say. Is that not the same principle assuming you're referring to the minors.

have a GE with 16 year olds in then first- why should the EU vote be any different to our constitution on voting I feel this did go to a vote in the house and was lost!
I'm not campaigning for votes for 16 year olds. My point is that the majority of the nation did not vote Leave, and given the ramifications, I don't think the leave vote should be deemed a mandate from the masses.

It's only a farce if you didn't understand the process in the first place.

I understand the process, but it's going to be a farce because it gives MP's who may have an agenda (who voted to remain) to vote everything down that doesn't match their position on Brexit that is put forward by the Government, it could end up going round in circles.

Which apparently nobody did despite all of this information being freely available.

TBF, there was also a lot of conflicting information out there too, plus the likes of money experts saying it would be impossible to predict the outcome of a leave vote as it was un chartered territory and something we had never encountered before.

The top and bottom of it is, I don't think there should have never even have been a referendum in the first place, should there?

The majority did not vote conservative, neither.

But those that voted (Of whatever persuasion) can't say they didn't know what they were voting for.

If those tory voters that voted them anyway (as well as those who decided to vote tory on GE day) didn't like the idea of a referendum (No matter how small they perceived the risk of the referendum result being out) they should've voted against the tories and made damn sure the tories were in no position to offer one.

The tories gave a mandate for a referendum. They got in. Nobody complained about the result's legitimacy so the referendum happened.

And only now people question the legitimacy of that result.

I agree totally with the point in bold.

With regards to the process in event of a leave vote, I appreciate that it wasn't 100% clear but there was no reason to believe that the referendum was anything other than advisory and that parliament wouldn't have to consent.

Most people voted to leave, but, in the absence of any agreement as to what Brexit meant, many of those voted for the Norway model. 48 % voted to stay in. It seems to me that Parliament can properly obtain, as a price of approving Article 50 notice, the government's commitment in legislation to go for Norway/soft Brexit, as that is closer to what the majority of voters wanted. Plainly they cannot please all the people all the time.

Everyone below the voting age. Especially pertinent as this decision arguably affects them (in the long term) more than anyone else.
Sorry mate . I was referencing this post when I replied to your earlier one.

People below voting age now had the same rights as we did back in 75 (I was 14 not 12, cant do maths). I don't see why the youth today should be treated any different.
