And there is one thing they all have in common - they hold their hands out!

Is that the same Turkey that Boris was campaigning for to join the EU in his new role as Foreign Secretary, having spent the entire referendum campaign saying how ghastly it would be to let those horrible brown people in? I'm sure noone was convinced by him on that either any more than they were convinced by the single market claims and the £350m for the NHS.

Could be right on the Turkey bit, Bruce but as for the 350 mill for the NHS, could not folk se through the rhetoric? I listened carefully and it was said that would be the saving but I do not recall anywhere to say all that would go to the NHS. I for one never bought into that.

Of course the French would attempt to do so, but Esk said it's going to Frankfurt. Meanwhile London and New York will just sit back and allow these two small financial centres to utilise their banks to gain business......this is not about moving a corner shop to another country.......

The latest stuff in the main papers today is that the banks would not go to Paris or Frankfurt but would prefer to relocate to New York.

We aren't saving £350m either but let's not do that again. It's been widely acknowledged including in this topic that the figure is wrong.

It was in the same interview/conference as the the post you made about the eurozone struggling. this happened the other day with the IMF economic forecasts, you can't pick and choose the information when it's from the same source.

I can if you don't spot it.......

Plenty of other adverts for it as well.

I think the issue is not so much the debate on the number so much as to what any money is spent on and who controls it. The nett figure in terms of payment to the EU and money returned from the EU is lower but the money returned comes via a decreasing rebate or with an EU label that says what it must be spent on. Therefore whatever the number is, the money paid in as a membership fee plus the money spent in the UK with the EU label will in future, after a suitable period of adjustment, be available for whatever the UK prioritises.........
