Non uk national therefore his opinion is totally invalid according to our government!!!

He didn't actually say anything though. He brought up one scenario which he used to show how the vagaries of 27 other countries could affect us and considered no other scenarios. He mentioned nothing about the European political landscape, forthcoming elections or the issues of several new blocs within the EU. In short it is a poor analysis and if he previously was part of our structures we are well rid.......

Oh, and he gives it away with "And there were people who believed that this crew in charge of the British negotiations were somehow going to strike a good deal". Referring to a new government with an existing civil service and Bank of England Governor as 'this crew' in such an arrogant and dismissive manner smacks of pain and angst......

I didn't say he knows nothing, once again you have it wrong, I said that it was a poor piece of analysis, and it is.....unlike you I am not as easily impressed by 'experts', I have worked with far too many for that......

Similar 'experts' projected that by this year the arctic seas would be completely free of ice, needless to say they are still frozen......

There wasn't enough climate change denial in this thread imo

In the interest of holding folks to account, it's perhaps worth saying that leave campaigners (Boris in particular) said that we would have access to the single market without free movement. Of course, I'm sure 'remoaners' told some lies too or something. and no voters were taken in by this blatant porky pie.

Rather than carrying on a dead debate about membership etc., why don't those who favour the E U do something positive? There's clearly a gap in the market, so help form a new political party which will seek to apply for British membership in 15 or 20 years.

Leaving is (apparently) going to be such a catastrophe that such a party will rapidly gain members and political clout.

There does appear to be a huge vacuum for those 'citizens of the world' that May was so dismissive of. I live in hope that the LibDems might pull their finger out, but that may be a forlorn hope.

Haven't people been hoping for that for about... since the Ice Ages?

 for a while yeah, but it does appear ripe for it at the moment as the Tories are becoming very illiberal at the moment. Labour under Corbyn are certainly no friend of the 'global citizen' either, and it's hard to see any role for UKIP or the Greens, much less the nationalist parties in Scotland and Wales.

Who is there trumpeting the merits of globalisation and a free and open society?
