Thought we left the EU to take back control? Seems like we're crossing our fingers and hoping for results elsewhere.

We have and not really. Whoever turns up in the USA can do what they wish. If they do not want a FTA that’s fine, and similarly if we wish to break an agreement with the EU that too is fine. I’d rather deal with anyone than someone trying to politically bully our country…..

So we won't be dealing with any of the big boys then.

Shame on the EU .. expecting Johnson to honour the deal he agreed and signed off..and referred to as oven ready.

Didn't we sign that deal. Not that it matters to the tories, keeping their word is just like telling the truth, why do it ?

Signing a deal is one thing. It’s a contract. But no contract ever produced in the world is both detailed enough or takes into account variant application. Just look at the debate regarding the USA 2nd amendment and what it really means. The U.K. signed an agreement, but the EU are doing their level best to make it as onerous as possible in its application, this is what the U.K. is trying to resolve, but it appears the EU has an agenda of punishment to the U.K.

It shouldn’t be this way between allies and friends, but the EU is deliberately trying to bully and humiliate the U.K. but we’ve faced this before from Europe. Personally, as I said throughout these negotiations, I would just walk away, and go to WTO rules. The trade between the U.K. and EU is huge, the military defence of Europe is in our common good, but we are being treated by the EU worse than any other country.

I for one would use art16, as per the contract, see how the Eu react and then throw the whole agreement in the bin if the EU doesn’t want a sensible relationship with the U.K…..

I read this as we signed an agreement/contract, didn't understand the ramifications in application, are now chancing our arm at making it all up again, our reputation is in tatters, no one wants to play with us and now we are going to throw our toys out of our pram, get Mum to ring China and see if we can organise a play date.
