No entirely the opposite if you read my first post on people being checked out, but you seem to be making an issue of something that I am not saying if no one has anything to hind that's all people what's the problem?
Also I do not need to know where you originate from so stop making it personal on a debate forum ok!

Then debate mate, engage with the arguments rather than avoiding them and moving onto something else every time you're challenged.

But this isn't checking people out for what they have to hide, this is checking a specific target group, isn't it?

I don't disagree with government wanting to take action for businesses and checking all their employes, but they're not - how would you feel if you and/or your family (imagine you're still at work and not retired etc.) were suddenly checked up by government? Not gonna be great, is it, even if you have nothing to hide?

so when the household survey the government do every now and then on what house you have if you have a conservatory etc occupants etc etc no one complains then?

It said the jobs were advertised in the UK, but as you said, later. Rather odd though, 7000 jobs available, as the article says, and the area is full of unemployment, yet no one applied for this minimum wage job in a warehouse.

Having worked in a warehouse - 'locals'/Brits quit after a week or two because it's "too hard" or "not enough money", where as us dirty immigrant rats are happy to work for the £7.20-8/hr because it's actually good money, even if you actually have to work and do things and not just sit and collect.

So yeah, in general - I can see why they'd offer it to Poles first - they'd actually come over and be happy to WORK. The fact that they created so many jobs in a supposedly unemployment-full area means that the people from this area overlooked that job for reasons that are beyond me if you're on the dole in the past/present. As it always is.

I was getting paid that to do that job 16 years ago. That's the trouble.

And it was only OK money then. Better if you hammered the overtime. Not good money by any stretch of the imagination.

It's alright if you're living in bedsitland and haven't got anything to spend your money on other than drugs and techno, but you ain't getting far on it.

The immigrant workforce had hard workers and slackers just like the natives. Some of the eastern European workers used to make monkey noises at the black workers, but I wont use that to say all eastern European immigrants are racist and all native Britains aren't. The only people ever caught stealing stock from lorries were immigrants too, but again I won't make lazy generalisations about that either.

I've never claimed to have been a big Ed fan, ever. I was right on the Labour/Green fringe last election.

Pretty standard stuff that, pretty sure I answered those questions to my employer and the Police record the same info.

I find freedom rather important, and the ability to live and work where you want is surely one of the most valuable. If you're not hurting anyone else I fail to see what business it is of anyone else.

It isn't that though, is it? From what I understand, they want that information because if your employer is hiring too much of the wrong nationality, they will do all they can to encourage your employer to get rid of foreign employees and hire British ones. Quite what qualifies as 'too much' seems very much arbitrary, and indeed quite who qualifies as the wrong sort. You would imagine Chelsea and Man City must be quaking in their boots however.
