LOL @ digging out the EU for halting exports while the UK and US are doing exactly that.
I don't know to be honest. It's a bit of a strange one. The other day it was announced that France would donate 100,000 doses of the AZ vaccine to Czech, so there are clearly supplies out there.

Any idea why? Like if the Italians are having problems with domestic vaxing, I can kinda see that sending 250,000 to Oz might be a hard sell to Italians.
UK was part of it once upon a time; however about a third of the electorate voted to leave ,and leave they did.
Boris Johnson and Donald Trump have put all kinds of export restrictions in place during the pandemic. It's terrible behaviour but not limited to the EU.Not really. If someone has bought doses and they were within a schedule production with dates and itemised as being owned by a particular country, then certainly the U.K. would not put an export control on their delivery. The EU, apparently at the behest of Italy have done just that .......

No one is asking the Italians to send 250,000 doses of their own supply to Australia. The Australian government have ordered, paid and have a contract for their delivery. The doses belong to Australia.....
Yeah but that contract doesn't count. Incidentally, it's noteworthy that given the dire situation in Czech at the moment that a number of European countries have stepped forward to help, both in terms of accepting Covid patients and donating vaccines. I'm far from a Marxist, but the doctrine of "each according to his ability, to each according to his need" seems quite apt right now. This is true pete, but it does ignore the elephant in the room that is the EU having ordered, paid and have a contract with AZ as well.
They can get gigs playing guitar in @Old Blue 2 's local pub though and should stop complaining.
