It's grimly ironic I suppose that the Tories seem to regard foreign fish that swim into British water far better than they regard foreign human beings. Minus the gutting and eating part obviously.

Give Reece Mogg or any of those Eton types a decently smoked refugee, salted and cured in 15 old whisky for a few weeks. I think they would give it a go eating the odd Somali.

It's reprehensible, but just to be clear, it was the Italian government that stopped the export, not the EU. Granted, the EU could have told them not to, but did not, but this was a decision made by the Italian government.

Any idea why? Like if the Italians are having problems with domestic vaxing, I can kinda see that sending 250,000 to Oz might be a hard sell to Italians.

I don't know to be honest. It's a bit of a strange one. The other day it was announced that France would donate 100,000 doses of the AZ vaccine to Czech, so there are clearly supplies out there.
