Good luck, and I hope Nigel, Boris et al give you what you were promised. If its great, I was wrong. If it isnt, I trust you have the good grace to blame no one who attempted to warn you.
It was going so well until this last sentence, it will be remainers who get the blame, ownership is not a Brexiteer trait. They will bleat like lambs when it continues to go sarf.

Despite all the Brexit yay or nay arguments on here, the one thing which should be at the front of peoples' thoughts is that it has been the Conservative party in power since power since 2010, and whatever your views on leave or remain, it is they who have been responsible for the austerity policies inflicted on this country, with unneccessary and savage cuts to public services, and underinvestment in, and creeping privatisation of the NHS. That's without the misery inflicted on those who are in the least able to help themselves through cuts in welfare and social care. Cameron panicked at the perceived (not realistic in my view) threat to his majority from a ukip party with a phoney charlatan at the helm wittering on about mass immigration.....yes I know that many who voted for brexit are not racist in nature at all......and offered a referendum on an issue which, at the time of instigation, most people had as a low priority as an issue. The campaign pre 23/6/16 was littered with posturing, misdirection, and downright lies, resulting in a very nearly half and half split between those who bothered to vote. Cameron fecked off into his shepherd's hut, and left a weak and unstable pm in May who could not control the ERG loonies like Rees Mogg who pushed for a no deal solution (which could still happen), resulting in tory mps like johnson, gove et al voting with the ERG against May's proposals, aided by elements in the PLP who wanted to push Corbyn into a remain stance, and a possible 2nd referendum? Johnson and Cummings used this in the run up to 12/12/19 convincing labour voters to vote for the tories, believing that as long as "Brexit got done" everything would be fine.
We are now a divided country with the hate and suspicion (on both sides I may add) ...........I very much doubt that Johnson has either the stomach or desire to heal these rifts. Instead there will be more austerity, in the guise of reigning in public spending, with little regard to those at the lower strata of society. I don't profess to actually know how our leaving the EU will affect everyone (I have an opinion on it but then again its only an opinion), but I am pessimistic regarding the direction in which this hard right government are taking us regardless of brexit aguments. Sooner or later, the tories will run out of excuses about blaming others for their own destructive policies and will have to own the blame for it. So in my view its just not only about "get brexit done"

Your statement is flawed.

If that is your belief concerning facts, then you have some way to go to understand the use of facts, and how they are applied.

And a wakey, wakey, to you. ;)
Here's your chance to justify yourself here @Old Blue 2. What do you think of the 'solution' to the Irish border issue that Johnson has introduced? Is it a concession to Republicans? A kick in the nads for the loyalists? A fudge from the British again regarding Ireland? I am really interested to hear your thoughts (if you have any).

Its nearly here, your idea of some weird nirvana as promised by those who promised it. I for one hope it succeeds.

But it is patently clear that I/We just do not understand why you seemingly intelligent folk just didnt question the validity of the promises made.

And by de facto, I deffo dont think you understand the concerns that those of us who did feel it right to question said promises have.

Good luck, and I hope Nigel, Boris et al give you what you were promised. If its great, I was wrong. If it isnt, I trust you have the good grace to blame no one who attempted to warn you.

To reply in a nutshell: it is apparent that Remainers will never understand why Leavers voted to leave. 4,503 pages is testament to that.

As I have said before, and will say it again, as it appears it STILL has not sunk in with some folk, the two Referendum campaigns were not able to make promises, they could only campaign for their side. Jeez, it's not that complicated!

And what's this? "...I trust you have the good grace to blame no one who attempted to warn you..." Like the Chancellor, who warned of a budget that would hammer the poorest if Leave won? You know, the guy who jumped ship with his buddy Cameron a few weeks after the result. Like the Gov. of the Bank of England who said that the economy would go down the pan (for want of a better phrase) if Leave won? Like all the crap that emanated from Juncker, Verhofstadt(sp) and Tusk post-23 June 2016? Do me a favour!!!

Unless I had all the information/documentation before me, I would not even begin to proffer my thoughts on the matter.

Unlike a lot on here, who have spouted for three and a half years constantly on what will happen and who have not a single clue as to how the future will shape up.

Having strong Irish descent as recent as grandparents (McCormick, McConnel, Waldron), I have been saddened over the decades to see Irish people tearing themselves apart. I have been heartened by how things have shaped up in recent times, and sincerely want to see whatever harmony there is, continue and hopefully improve.

I don't know whether this is a satisfactory answer for you, but it is what I offer, since you requested.

Interesting......which of you 2 voted Tory on Dec 12 ? I dont think any of us knows what will happen for sure with brexit, but one thing I am sure of...you could vote for brexit and vote against the poison that is the tories. Having said that...what about all the crap which emanted from Rees mogg etc after 2016?

Shot by both sides... ;) ;) ;)

mellowblue, I would say this is the best, most sensible post in the whole of this massive thread. Well done!

A quick response. I have never voted Tory, and I will never vote Tory as long as I draw breath.

I have always voted Labour. Period.
