Hello Joey. Hope you are well. I have no idea how we’ll be affected economically. I am not an economist or have any knowledge of how trade deals etc work. Not particularly interested either to be honest.
I’m more worried about the rise of the far right, and that the conservatives have been voted back into power despite having launched an all out assault on the poor of this country.

As you mention, people think it's done and dusted now. The only outcome that will not lead to an absolute cluster [Poor language removed] trade deal wise is if we go with full alignment with the EU on standards for goods and services. There's no way things can be picked apart without producing an absolute avalanche of red tape, putting firms out of business as a result. For example the Irish border. It'll become clear as day that Johnson has told the population a pack of lies regarding goods moving between GB and NI. This whole 'throw the documents in the bin' line is reckless. The EU are committed to protecting standards and will not allow goods to move via this route if correct checks are not being carried out. All GB serving businesses in NI are likely to struggle as they will have to account for not just individual items that are sold, but the constituent parts of them as well. This will make NI businesses uncompetitive in the long run. In the same respect, the EU will be wary of goods coming into the EU, via NI, via GB if GB standards undercut EU, giving GB firms an unfair advantage. That's before you even get into the breakdown of when you are trading goods and services in one product, or even more obstructive, the rules around country of origin.

Recession is unavoidable IMO. I've decided to give up reading about it though, as the whole thing is so frustrating. Even reading this thread has annoyed me.

I agree completely, especially the bottom line, which seems inevitable.

On the Irish border: the deal with the EU is cast iron and on the EU's terms. It can only be ditched in the event of no deal between the UK and the EU, and that isn't going to happen. It's sold as something else other than a border in the Irish Sea by Johnson and there's not much push back on that spin from the DUP, because politically they have nothing to gain by calling it anything other than a small amount of extra bureaucracy. But, as you say, the NI economy will suffer with the complexities of trade. I fully expect that to be a major flashpoint in time.

So it starts again sore losers using the word racist as an excuse to promote their stance in which remain lost the lack of understanding Brexit - never helped Labour much in the GE either where anti-Semitism was fine under their leader .....
I have not got a racist bone in my body lived next door to an Italian for many years get on great TBH remainers in denial really need to support our country......

I'm saddened to see the Labour party shot out into oblivion, but those on here thinking Corbynism was , and still is the way back- are really peeing in the wind .......
I do feel it will take 4-5 years for our independence to show Brexit was the right thing to do .....

This is yet more absolute guff.

There’s a total of 179k people employed in the entire fishing / processing industries across the entire EU, and the U.K. accounts for just short of a quarter of that total.
