Sorry I wasn't clear on that. My point was more around the way that this will be spun.

I know bud, didn't think for one minute you meant it the way it came across but I saw an opening :)

The last thing the country needs is an overhaul of the NHS where it isn't accessible to any member of society.

The overhaul it needs is better staffing levels, staff training and up to date equipment, there are enough horror stories in any newspaper you care to read, about the failings, and most of them could be sorted out with investment.

Not just a soundbite investment but a major funding investment to get it to the level it should be at, lets not blame the number of patients, they can't help being injured/ill (well mostly anyway) the blame lies in the lack of infrastructure to handle the increased numbers.

Yeah it's not an easy fix. Clearly the current use is unsustainable, but, I think it stems from education and expectation. People often see the NHS as something to solve all problems and a service that exists exclusively for them.

If they are working on the black market they pay back tax,and NI.....
I'm a little sceptical about this Joe. They're working illegally on the black market but suddenly decide to pay NI and tax?

Or is it that they're given an option of deportation or pay tax? In which case, presumably the employer is convicted by the GLA, police or NCA and the immigrant loses their job and won't get another because they're illegal.

I'd love to know the practicalities. Any links?

Yeah, I noticed a fair few 'likes' of some pretty ropey RichardP posts by some of the usual suspects. Didn't want to raise it at the time as it would have just further derailed what was already a bit of a sh_show but my estimation of a few of them has gone down (which is saying something) and I've had to put a couple on ignore now as I can't read through their dishonest nonsense without getting worked up.

Excellent....

It's called an animesty only workers who are contributing to the country's income..

Plenty of domestic 'workers' in the 1% don't contribute to the country's income through various tax loopholes, but we can't kick them out. There was supposed to be this law coming in, via the EU, to make them more accountable so we could properly fund public services. Then those 1% tax avoiders got anxious about their unfairly-kept cash, so convinced people like you to vote through a split with the EU so they'd never suffer the consequences.

The fact you care about the peanuts that the country makes from people like a Spanish MFL teacher (good, contributes a few thousand) vs a Romanian café worker (bad, doesn't meet the tax thresholds) whilst seemingly happy to wave goodbye to hundreds of millions in lost revenue from the tax dodgers should be ringing massive alarm bells as to what you've voted for, but I fear the lines are just too entrenched now.

It's just getting pathetic now

Mps are fighting to get no deal off the table at any cost.

Same MPs given more than one opportunity couldn't agree on any sort of deal.

This is literally british politics. Don't want the logical solution but don't want to agree on any other.

Meanwhile the EU are now finally trying to get a solution to the backstop, saying but it must have Dublin’s approval, I.e, listen Leo you are killing the EU here so you’d better get behind it......

I love the words "now finally" in there, like that hasn't been the EU position for the flippin' entirety of 2019.

EU in January-July: The backstop remains until there is an alternative arrangement that safeguards the GFA. We don't like the backstop and are keen to put in place an alternative as soon as possible, but there must be protections for the single market and a lasting guarantee of peace that Dublin can accept.
Brexiters: Boo! No backstop! May out! Treason!

Brexiters: Good old Boris! He's got them on the run now!
