At the end of the day we don’t know what will happen if we deffo leave the EU, no matter what these ‘qualified’ people from both the leave and remain camps say.

We had the crap on the bus from leavers, wasn’t true.

We were told by remainers before the vote that if we voted to leave people would lose their jobs, their homes and we’d all be living in cardboard boxes, didn’t happen.

By the way, I voted remain.

Indeed, totally agree and I voted leave.......

As was explained in the article (which I'm sure you read to the end), economists weren't predicting that the UK economy would shrink by a couple of percent, but that growth would be hit by a couple of percent, which would explain why it has gone from the best performing G7 economy to the worst since 2016.

Bruce he wont listen. I've tried making that point with actual data but didn't get even an acknowledgement.

To me it's really simple - the disruption alone will cause a negative impact. Then in the post-Brexit world the UK is a massively smaller entity (relative to the EU) so for the likes of the US and Japan etc we can oy hope for even vaguely comparable trade deals if we bow to certain conditions and caveats. That's ignoring the obvious that we will get a worse trade deal with the EU than we have now as part of it...

And we have all said this before, we may tread water for a short while but that’s it, no disasters, no cliff edges, no people dying in the streets, which is what the author was suggesting.....

@RichardP apparently has telepathy. Could you get him to answer my question about refugees from the EU. He seems to be doing his best to ignore it.

Ever heard of the saying that charity begins at home?

When we are not in a position to look after homeless UK citizens (some of whom who are themselves immigrants) and we have ex service men and women sleeping rough on the streets, does it not strike you as unfair to prioritise immigrants over those who have already contributed to society?

And thats the EU's fault?

I am sure you can extract the figures you need from this link. But please don't ask for any more info from me. I have better things to do than educate you on something you should already know, and probably do.

lol

Like you have read that you bore.

And thats the EU's fault?

It is a fact, irrespective of who is to blame and we should prioritise British citizens over immigrants, yes.

Merkel encouraging mass immigration is obviously a major factor so yes, the EU does shoulder much (but not all) of the blame.

Of course I listen. But I’ve been listening to the same comments suggesting the same doom and gloom for over 3 years. This disruption that will cause a negative impact, how long will that go on for ? How big will the negative impact be ? What would our growth have been had we just voted Remain ?

The U.K. will do a trade deal with the USA before the EU do. The U.K. and Japan will roll over the Japan/EU deal. The EU may or may not do a free trade deal, but even though they are far bigger than us, we are still their biggest export market, bigger than Japan, bigger than China, bigger than the USA, so on what basis will we be beaten into a bad deal. I’ll agree that with the likes of May and Hammond negotiating and Blair and co stitching us up in Brussels that would have happened.

We won’t agree because I believe we will make Brexit work, because I believe that the U.K. has what it takes to be successful. Certain Remainers do not believe that the U.K. can make a success of it. But if we believe we will fail, and we actively denigrate the U.K. and stitch ourselves up with a negotiating partner we surely will fail......

Troll. You must be. Or a Bot.

I know this proverb being a lefty anti-Semite Momentum mobster, its about teaching children to be charitable in the home, so when they grow up, well they grow up to be...

It also applies on a national level. If you take it to the extreme, we will soon not be in a position to look after ourselves, never mind immigrants. If you look a bit deeper into the meaning you may get past the superficial (but nonetheless relevant) domestic interpretation.
