Pff would you have preferred a longer extension? Six months is plenty. As usual the Macron bashing (even though he's probably not the only one- will probably do his domestic approval ratings some good ) can begin, and all attention is diverted from the the previous +- three years. Sick of it all. Six months of insufferable UK party politics overshadowing the whole thing. We can play a bingo: will they appoint a new leader, will both party 'leaders' (lack of a better word here) find a consensus, what will the ERG do, will there be splits ... . The accession talks were the hardest ever, seems like they are intent on setting a new record with the withdrawal.

It does have a feeling now that it is just fading into the distance. Nothing can be agreed other than to keep going with it until people become do fed up with it that we just stay in.

Six months ,change of Prime Minister/GE and a referendum ! It might take longer than that.
