you know this , how exactly ??

I know a fair few remainers, who have been so disgusted with the way things have panned out they would vote to leave now..
You, if you voted Leave again, would still have the Irish border issue to solve. I ask this question of the brexiteer elite on here quite a bit so how would you solve this problem? Would you accept the carve up of 'the UK' and separate customs arrangements for Britain and the six countries or would you just give Ireland back to the Irish? Otherwise, how would you solve that problem mate?

Six counties, of course....

New report from Oxford on the car sector in the UK after Brexit - https://www.sbs.ox.ac.uk/sites/defa... UK auto sector_white paper_09 April 2019.pdf

  • White paper released today by Matthias Holweg, automotive expert and Professor of Operations Management at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford details the damage that has been wrought on the UK’s automotive industry by the Brexit process.
  • Overall investment has dropped by 80% over the last three years.
  • The UK car industry has already lost 9% of its volume due to Brexit.
  • Production forecasts by manufacturers going forward are down by 17% compared to pre-referendum levels.
  • Volume car production cannot be sustained under a WTO tariff regime, and a customs union would make UK plants less competitive.
  • In the case of a no-deal Brexit the UK is likely to lose 35% of its current production volume over the coming decade.
  • “Hollowing-out” of the skill and supply bases could have further adverse effects on aerospace and defence manufacturing.

is the rest of the EU currently booming bruce ???

would love to see some comparisons with EU countries, or do you just point out anything negative that makes Brexit look like the sole cause?

Grim reading that.

'In case of a no-deal Brexit we estimate that the UK is likely to lose 35% of its current
production volume over the coming decade, to a level below 1 million units per annum. This
equates to 58% of its peak production volume in 2016.'

Also nice to see the WTO option addressed in that too.

Always worth a reminder when talking about the UK car industry and Brexit:

I point out things relevant to Brexit. I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but a number of family members work at Skoda in Czech and they just received a tasty bonus, so in comparison to the thousands of their peers being let go in the UK, it seems like they're doing alright. I'm visiting Toyota later and I'll ask them if they can respond to Frank on the internet coz he can't do research himself ;) "Y'all a lazy sob" might be the answer however.

And incidentally Frank, it seems to be a trend on this thread, and probably elsewhere, that Brexiters bemoan reports, predictions and studies highlighting the damaging effect of Brexit on various aspects of British life. These reports reflect 'project fear' and the like, and only tell one side of the story, almost as though, as you just have, it's down to people who think we should stay to figure out why leaving is going to be a great thing.

This is an open forum, so if you have news of how Brexit is helping Britain or reports from respected bodies on how it might do in the future, then I'm sure they would be gratefully received. Heck, it might even help to convince remain voters that this might be okay after all. You can be that man Frank. I believe in you.
