Do you remember the BoE projected state of the Economy before the referendum if we voted leave?, they were badly wrong and after said they'd had a "Michael Fish" moment.

So if they got it badly wrong then, why would anyone take their word as gospel now?

I have just watched May this morning say the economy would still grow with a no deal brexit, just a lot slower than if we agreed to back her deal.

An analogy would be, in your current job Bruce, you'll keep your current wage, but your pay rises won't be 5% a year, they will be 2% over the next few years, the upside is there are no laws now and you can do what the frig you want to improve your wealth and way of life.
Throwing out simplistic analogies is a bit insincere, if you don't believe the projected data then you should be able to provide reasons why it is wrong and why you are right, simply saying 'I don't believe the experts, I know better' isn't acceptable, you have to provide a logical counter argument

Stop talking actual facts, OBWD. Bruce will quote you loads of predictions and projections, and google loads of articles to try to demolish you. Others will pile into you for your comments also. They mightn't call you a little Englander, a racist, a bigot, like they did to me, @Joey66 & @peteblue many hundreds (thousands even) of pages ago, but be ready for the storm.

I await their vituperation for this post in the usual manner - pissing myself laughing while they accuse me of all kinds of crap. Such is this thread - be aware!

They got it badly wrong before, their statements yesterday can not be trusted is what I am saying, you won't miss what you never had, so if we only grow by a small amount each year, 2%, then what do we care if it could have been 5% tied to the EU.

We would still be one of the largest economies in the world, and free to make our own laws and trade deals to aid our prosperity.

the people who will lose their jobs as growth slows might care, and many many positions are under review as a direct result of brexit and the uncertainty, I can speak first hand for that.

But what makes you certain of of a 2% growth figure, how do you come to that number? also given the track record of both the current government and in particular the lack of sincerity from politicans campaigning for brexit, what makes you think the UK will be a fairer and more prosperous place if this austerity driven government is give more power to strike deals and right rough shod over EU law, including those that protect the worker?

thing is... i dont have a major love for the EU, i dont want to us to stay in the EU so i can win an argument, i have just read articles/listened to discussions etc and decided that the economy and for the future of the country it is better to stay in the EU

Look, I've no beef at all if you are questioning the methodology by which the BoE came up with their projections, but you're putting your hat into another projection, and I'm not sure on what basis (other than it conforms to your support for Brexit). What is it about May's methodology that you believe is more robust than the BoE's? I mean it can't be that the Tories/government are more reliable than the BoE, as not only have they made some awful projections of their own, but also told some whopping great lies in the past few years. So they're not inherently more trustworthy, so there must be something in May's methodology that makes her prediction something you can trust. What is it?

I think we should leave with no deal on principle alone because of the way the EU has treated us throughout these negotiations, the way May has caved to them at every hurdle has been the weakest display of leadership I've seen in my lifetime by a PM.

The more I read and see, the more I pull back the curtain on the guff being spouted by the project fear mongers, the more I think no deal is nothing to be feared, we may take a bit of pain, but so will the EU, and we'll be free to steer our own path.

Mate I watched it from the beginning, she said the economy would still grow with a no deal, just slower than if we accepted her deal.
So worse off, even assuming extremely favourable/contradictory future outcomes.
I really don't know why you're attempting to argue this point when you hold no store by the projected economic forecasts anyway.

If we tread water for 5 years, 0% growth, to be free of the EU, it's a price worth paying, we've just had 10 years of austerity, with record highs in employment if you believe the stats.

What May told us today was there will still be growth even if we no deal it, so we will have what we have now, getting slightly better year on year, like I said you won't miss what you never had.

you haven't really answered anything I asked, just repeated the same rather bizarre logic

I can’t believe he can’t grasp this simple point
