Yeah, get that. But food trade specifically, imo, will be quickly green lighted as best they can. EU/UK wide anyrate.
Not a clue how stuff from the wider world will be treated mind. Just hope someone does.
The tariff issue could widely affect this as well. The trade deal we have as part of the EU allows for customs free entry of goods (food included)
Once we stop we become a third country and therefore that customs free zone dies. Now the U.K. government have stated (because of poor infrastructure) that we’ll accept all EU goods and not apply tariffs, this has not gone down well with the WTO who have told the government that’ll they’ll be fined from day 1 if they accept and goods and don’t apply tariffs. It’s showing an unfair favouritism to the EU against the rest of the world
Issue 2 is the EU have told Britain to swivel and all our imports will be subject to any other regulatory and tariff requirements as per all the other countries
If all that does get ironed out then another issue with exporting will revolve around ensuring that companies who export animal based products become approved establishments by the EU, a lot of small companies could lose a lot of business over night.
Whilst our food hygiene and standards will be the same of Europe’s, the requirements for approved establishments will be introduced and will require regular audits from Directive F to ensure compliance.
