Like I said. Ignorance.

The Lib Dems blocked a multitude of Tory pledges from being enacted and also had many of their own policies put in place. This would not have happened if a solely Tory government had been in power.

But you won’t do any research, you’ll just keep spouting misinformed rhetoric. Brexit voter 101.

I mean, they hardly would have been able to do anything without being backed by the Lib Dems like

We would have just gone back to the polls again

Doesn't seem to undemocratic when viewed in this way, does it?

I feel you're wasting your breath to be honest. Whilst I didn't put it into such a nice visually accessible table, I've pointed out similar things to Pete, Joe et al numerous times when they complain about the 'undemocratic' nature of the EU. It falls on deaf ears usually. It could be the way I tell 'em of course :)

Really showing your political ignorance with this comment. Do some research into the number of Lib Dem manifesto policies that ended up being put into action as a result of that coalition.

To imply he did nothing is total nonsense.

That has to be measured against the enabling of tory policies. His wasn't a quid pro quo, it was an attempt to be 'historical', selfish as opposed to selfless.

The trade-off seemed to be, is it better to a) be part of government and therefore have a chance to influence things, even if there are things you disagree with that happen, or b) be outside government as the third biggest party and therefore have minimal chance to influence anything at all.

That's essentially the deal here, and I can't help but think Britain will be getting quite accustomed to 'b' when we leave the EU.

That's opinion about his character, which isn't really important. The reality, and what is relevant, is that the coalition was far less right wing that it would have been had the Tories gained an overall majority in a second vote, which I would argue would have been likely.

A rainbow coalition wouldn't have worked and would have been unfair from a democratic perspective. The party with the most votes having no say over the direction of the country cannot be right.

The character of a politician of influence should always matter. Your comment about degrees to the right of the government is opinion, having witnessed Thatcherism at its peak, I would opine that the tory government since 2010 has been to the right of that, enabled or restrained by Clegg et al is the point. What legacy did that alliance leave? Almost wiping out his own party?

Yes his achievement wiped out his own party let the post office get sold for a song, and got voted out of office by the people in his safe constituency - arise Sir Nick Clegg?..................
As I pointed out that was a smokescreen for many 1922 Tories on the committed of their party getting knighthoods under the radar, how many would like him on here if he was not a staunch remainer?.............

It's about proportion Bruce - the Polictical power the EU has , and is seeking more!
Oh and the cheap tax they pay it's like comparing apples and pears budget wise on that chart - as it's about power!
We voted to leave to become a big player in trade, and our courts - let's see!
Independence may not be a bad thing in the future the way the EU is heading!
