Not really an argument Pete but I respect your comment and agree re the unification expectation.

The historic Unionist majority has engrained the doctrine that majority rule is democratic so surely there shouldn't be an issue if the majority decrees unification

I agree, but I would have preferred a unification in about 50-100 years. The UK is more than happy to go with whatever the people want, but I'd rather that any violent intentions are bred out of the populace in order to make it a success. We all want Ireland to be a great place, and maybe even a part of a new Ireland UK relationship. We have too much in common, and like me too many relatives, to see it not progress peacefully and successfully......

I meant I'd be happy having a pint with either of them.......you take things far too seriously.......
I'd rather pour the pint over his head. Hate everything he stands for and wouldn't be friends with him.

Maybe I do take things seriously but I'm careful who I buy pints for and I don't buy them for racist xenophobes.

I see that the Dutch Senate has overturned the results of a referendum and ratified the treaty between the EU and Ukraine. This will immediately allow Ukrainians visa free travel throughout the schengen zone. I hope the 60% of voters who were against this show a little more bottle than their 'leaders' in the years to come.........

The main act of cowardice was not standing up to Russia when they invaded Ukraine to be honest.

Aren't you forgetting the binding declaration of 15/12/2016 mate? They only agreed to overturn the referendum after the creation of said declaration, which addressed the issues the people had with the agreement.

For instance: they aren't allowed free travel.

Here you go:

The European Council notes that the Decision set out in the Annex is legally binding on the 28 Member States of the European Union, and may be amended or repealed only by common accord of their Heads of State or Government. It will take effect once the Kingdom of the Netherlands has ratified the agreement and the Union has concluded it. Should this not be the case, the Decision will cease to exist.

"While setting out the objective of enhancing the mobility of citizens, the Agreement does not grant to Ukrainian nationals or Union citizens, respectively, the right to reside and work freely within the territory of the Member States or Ukraine. The Agreement does not affect the right of Member States to determine volumes of admission of Ukrainian nationals to their territory in order to seek work, whether employed or self-employed"
