Given the dogmatism of Trump, are we really still expecting any trade deal done with the US to be in our interests whatsoever? If people didn't like TTIP, I can only imagine any future deal being quite significantly worse.

Has anyone actually taken the time to watch that interview?

He never said "yes to a trade deal", he just stated that we're "allllriiight".

In regards to the single market.

Tory manifesto, 2015.
Yes unfortunately in the same manifesto they promised to give the UK a referendum of staying in or OUT of the EU -surprise to them OUT WON - so that bit of the manifesto is now defunct as you can not be in the single market and not be a member of the EU , but we could negotiate access to it like other countries outside do !

Listening to many of the M P's (on both sides of the debate) comments on the ruling and its implications doesn't fill me with much confidence. Some quite odd contortions of argument in an attempt to link the judgment to their side's position.

It's a bit muddled really. I mean it's good that May looked at things like technical skills in her speech this week, but these skills aren't just magically produced overnight, so if we're in an environment whereby companies cannot import those skills in the short-term because of migration quotas, but there aren't the natives with those skills either, I'm not quite sure how we expect to thrive. Talent is as important, if not more so than tariffs.

It's what they do..........

If a trade deal is not in our interests then you don't do one. A trade deal may favour one side more than the other but as long as both are gaining from it then it's of benefit. TTIP is a shambles because it was a trade deal between 29 countries all of whom want something different.

Out to the European Union, by a minute fraction - but not out of the European Single Market.
