Look beyond the person and consider the words. That is surely not beyond you, Bruce...

How can you consider the words without also considering the person and their vested interests in saying those words? Come OB2, this is basic stuff.

Le Pen is an extremist nationalist. She wants French sovereignty. She therefore has a vested interest in creating a narrative that Brexit is a huge success because it suits her own political discourse.

Surely you must see that?

The fact he needs this explaining to him is scary.

Of course her politics are extreme. I know that.

The point I am trying to make, to get through to some people, is that the tenor of what is said has a ring of truth.

Our economy HAS NOT gone down the proverbial.

Take this point: "...There is no chaos at all around Brexit. On the contrary, chaos was forecast and it didn’t happen..." There's no chaos. All we get is the media STILL trying to stir things up, and doom and gloom STILL being preached by certain businesses because it suits their agenda. 'NEXT' for example, quoted in the media as having problems. This is their problem: "...The retailer now expects to make a pre-tax profit of £792m for the year to January 2017, at the bottom end of its previous forecast of £785m to £825m..." WOW! Pre-tax profit of £792 million, and they're squealing like stuck pigs! Do me a favour!!!

And this: "...If the EU attempted to punish the UK for Brexit, she said, Brussels would be “showing its real face..." Is there not a ring of truth to this, in the light of some of the sabre rattling that has come from EU HQ in recent months? Of course there is!

And how about this: "...The way the EU has reacted to Brexit was I think extremely revealing for European people - at least for those who thought there was still an ounce of democracy left in the European structure...” Some EU bureaucrats have already been quoted in this thread (might have been Juncker) with their dictatorial position quite clearly pointed out.

So before you and others latch on to the particular wing of politics she espouses, read what is written, and pass fair comment on it. The biggest fascist I've come across in my lifetime is Thatcher. An utterly, utterly, vile creature...

I love the bit where people expect the EU to 'punish' the UK, forgetting that certain countries like Germany would suffer the most financially. I do hope that as part of the negotiations, that we tell the EU that when they wind up Putin and Russia, that they are on their own, that the Uk will steadfastly remain outside of any form of conflict, either militarily, economic or political. I'm pretty sure that Trump will tell them the same..........so it's over to you France, Germany and er............

So tell me what is wrong with French sovereignty?

There is nothing wrong with it at all, but you continue to miss my point - because it is one of her main fundamental political beliefs, she has a clear agenda behind her criticisms of the EU and defence of the ongoing Brexit calamity, and therefore you can only take her words with a pinch of salt because of the ulterior motive.

The rhetoric and the politics are inextricably linked, you must accept that?
