Actually spent yesterday evening with Harvard Business School out in their Bloomsbury office. Think McGregor was taught there wasn't he?

Why would training on the ward help when the DHBs are underfunded and cannot afford to hire the staff?

The system needs looking at nursing was never a degree job, not saying you pay should be altered , but it would stop managers recruiting from all over Europe my NHS managers had two weeks in Spain recruiting came back most Spanish nurses returned home because of the way our NHS is run with those long hours I mentioned!
Too worth a week in three days is scandalous IMO!

It takes some doing to appear on Question Time and end up making Nigel Farage look like the 'good guy'.

But author Will Self somehow managed it during a clash over Brexit .

The journalist was on a feisty panel alongside Louise Mensch, Sarah Woolaston MP and Richard Burgon MP.

It was an unsurprisingly heated discussion with topics including Donald Trump, Brexit and the NHS.

But one particular particular comment from Self sparked anger online.

It came as Farage was talking about measures that could be taken to encourage businesses to relocate to Britian post- Brexit .

The former UKIP leader mentioned the rumour that fast-food giant McDonald's may move to the UK.

Self interrupted sarcastically saying: "Great jobs! Great jobs for everybody! Mine's a Big Mac."

It provoked some nervous laughter in the Maidenhead audience.

Self went on: "That's been the whole policy we've followed for years, and that's why people got seriously poor and voted for you weirdly."

Viewers were quick to jump on the "snobby" remark.

Journalist Harry Cole wrote: "Will Self now sneering at people that work in McDonalds. What an oaf."

Jane S wrote: "Will Self should cringe when he watches himself talking about McDonalds. Respect hard working young people, you lolloping prat"

Peter Chalinar added: "Will Self clearly dismisses anyone who works for a huge company called McDonalds - he thinks he's superior to the plebs."

Jennifer Judge chimed in: "Will Self thinks it's ok to sneer at those working in McDonalds? Thousands of people support their families working there"

McDonald's says it employees an estimated 85,000 people across the UK and over 1 million worldwide.

Was Will Self on question time then, I'll watch it on Iplayer.

I like him, speaks his mind. I'm sure he will have had a point to his initial jest and it's been taken out of context.

His philosophy of management is in my NEBSS book taught me a lot Bruce his theory of management of theory X and theory Y is outstanding

The health system has changed, advances in medicine require nursing to be a vocational degree. It's no longer just about knowing how to clean up after a patient with some basic monitoring here and there.
The knowledge and advancements we have seen make it a far more complex job than it was before

It's good to learn things. A day spent without learning is a day wasted.

Could it work though? I can't imagine it would go down well with other member states. I doubt they'd want British citizens to have access to their country if they weren't given the same offer in reverse. On the face of it the idea would seem like a good compromise but I fear it would be unworkable.

Ok you are at the sharp end do you have to work 39 hours in three days with no lunch break? Or if you have a lunch break you only get paid 36 hours?

I don't work the same shifts as nurses Joey, or indeed do shift work in general. I have been working 40 hour weeks unpaid as part of my practicum for a vocational degree.

I support the NHS I know its understaffed they are stooping the nurses burseries etc it is very hard when if a family patient is dying and an agency nurs tells me he is just a bed blocker make me wonder where did that training come from?
Reported her and the harassed ward sister just stated can't do anything she's just an agency nurse?

It may sound callous and is in many ways, but beds are often at a premium, so in some ways you want to have someone who has a chance at life filling that bed than someone who doesn't.
Wards often develop a dark sense of humour to cope with the loss of life they see on a regular basis.

hi Bruce did you catch the daily politics show?
They had a crowd funding idea for people like yourself, something like better together or better united something like that anyway.
basic idea they fund people at certain by elections that share there views, have a look at it might be of interest yourself .
