Fracking back on the table... this is going to be interesting, employing peoples fears for energy to prompt a sacrificing of the environment.

Put up more turbines, get some hydro going, and pay for it and own it via the tax payer. No point selling turbine fleets abroad because we're still over a barrel at their behest.
Unfortunately playing on people's fears is their MO, will be the same story as they rip up planning laws and destroy green space to 'turbo charge' the economy. All that is turbo charged is the dividend payment to shareholders. Sadly by the time most people notice they've already voted them back in after falling for a media sponsored confidence trick.

The point about owing the renewable tech is difficult because much like the oil and gas situation the government/crown estate are in it for the quick buck rather than play the long game beyond a parliamentary term. Cambridge did a study about 10 years ago or so that proposed that tidal resources in the Pentland Firth could provide a substantial proportion of Scotlands electricity needs. The kicker - only if a system was designed to maximise output as a collective effort over the watercourse. This doesn't sit well with the smash and grab licensing approach so a missed opportunity...

If Labour get in the green energy proposals from Keir are encouraging but he does appear to have wed himself to an unachievable target with 2030.

Cable to Morocco bro.

lol at these farmers trying to capture weak UK photons.

Which government ministers brother in law is the CEO of Moroccan Cable inc?
Being serious the internet of energy is a thing (potentially an enormous one), but whether any of us live to see it is debateable. Would require massive joined-up infrastructure across the globe and long-term geopolitical stability. We don't have the political class at the moment who are capable of making these long term plays.
