Yawn. I guess it gives our friend Tipp his daily priapism to scrape redditt content and other sources and repost it here in some sort of gotchya moment. But in any case, having old quotes from two scientists in 1970 isn't exactly very damning evidence against climate change. Ehrlich, in particular, was roundly criticized at the time by other scientists for making ridiculously exaggerated claims that do more harm than good (fast forward to present and witness GOT's own lazy youtube climate-denier pushing this as "evidence" against climate change). Climate science has evolved since 1970.

As to Australia's snow fall it is diminishing, but it shows high interannual variability. Most projections have pretty wide confidence intervals, making one-off predictions by individual scientists irrelevant to the trends and model output.

Same goes for Arctic sea ice. It is diminishing but it is a stochastic process that also gets replenished. It's going, but not at a rate originally thought. Compare 1979 (left) to 2022 (right).

But again, taking one scientist's claim and thinking it's "gotchya moment" is the intellectual laziness we expect from Tipp. But such an unimaginative tactic has literally nothing to do with the tens of thousands of independently published peer-reviewed papers documenting climate change. More generally, this is about the 10th time I've responded to Tipp's Truth Social-level posts. If Tipp would act in good faith and not just troll-post for mental-microboners he wouldn't have to be repeatedly embarrassed on this forum, but Tipp understands nothing about science and refuses to make any attempts to learn about it. What a weird way to walk through life.
It’s grim how people don’t even bother reading or listening

It's easier. It takes less effort. It does not require owning up to admit to others and yourself that you know feck all. Minimise an issue, make a ruling on one side or the other and then start shouting. It's a fascinating strategy, it weaponises both the to thick to care and the privileged onto the same side. And anyone coughing up otherwise is woke. Woke being anti racist, anti homophobic, anti establishment, anti petro chemical etc.

We want business as usual, times were easier in the past. The comfort blanket of sunlit uplands of yesteryear. Fatigue plays into this, brexit being an example. When there are no easy answers left, invent one and pretend its real. Thus shysters like boris and trump. That rabbit hole goes deeper.

"the world is a fine place and worth fighting for." - I agree with the second part.

Tipp reminds me of Captain Redbeard Rum from Blackadder II. When he's called out for not having a crew for his ship the Captain replies that 'opinion is divided on the matter....all the other captains say it is, I say it isn't.'

Ignorance is bliss honestly.

The more you learn about things, the more complicated the world becomes.

I must confess to not really caring about much in my younger days, not my problem, Mirror reader on my lunch break in work was my level of news.

But we have the internet now, I get that people have busy lives, but never in the history of the human race have we had so much readily available information, on every topic, every view point possible and never have we had so many God damn ignorant and at times really misinformed, well, morons, there is no better word.

We have a convicted rapist who has every chance of winning an Election in November, what timeline even is this?

For clear scientific consensus there sure are a lot of predictions that don't happen........
You might want to at learn the definitions of your terminology used before self owning in future.

Was listening to Spokeman for Just Stop Oil, yesterday retired GP, came across as having good bedside manner, all round nice person. Took most of the interview to define the "war footing" Just Stop Oil are advocating, basically means rationed energy for all even if that means hours a day of nothing... Most people just are not going for that. Big on Ideology Zero on practability.

We’re all screwed.

The same what Dr Bing Jones spokesman for Just Stop Oil is smoking i reckon. So rationed energy for all it is then, high on ideology zero practability.
People should be aware that changes in behaviour are needed. Think things should be happening at macro levels to make any particular difference and as the various actors aren’t particularly willing to do this due to vested interests it’s unlikely to happen anyways,

On another point, I get the product they have but as always with LBC, the ‘host’ has their own narrative and will generally seek a gotcha moment from their less media savvy guests.
It’s an embarrassing organisation.
