I agree completely here, apart from the fact we're using Niasse and Kone as benchmarks.
That makes me frustrated with the person responsible for signing them.
We possibly have the best and the worst strikers in the league at the same time with them and Lukaku. As for Valencia, I know he doesn't come here highly rated, but let's see him in a blue shirt and then we can judge.
Likewise, I agree with you regarding the utterly inadequate benchmark but we've got to face the fact that the options are Valencia or those two.
Valencia for me is still a relative unknown as he had a scorching World cup and his international scoring record isn't too shabby at all!
Although, at West Ham he didn't really set the league alight and his other domestic records aren't really up to the standard for a fair judgement.
Still, look at the situation of Gueye and how people wrote him off and now look; while I'm not saying he'll be the same rather it's too early judge.
Getting back to Koné and Niasse, you are correct it is a hugely worrying aspect as we are pitifully weak in options once you remove Rom.
Hopefully Valencia will somehow bolster this but really if we want to compete for European places consistently we need to have depth.
If you look at the likes of Spurs they have Kane, Jansen, Son and Lamela. Those lot across the park have Sturridge, Origi and Ings.
We should be seriously look at adding another option in the January window: Rom, talented addition, Valencia and Koné would pacify many fans.
