i was thinking this yesterday when boycott was naming his world XI and was saying root would definitely be there. even though he's no.1 test batsman, i don't think smith would get in for me. amla, williamson and root for the middle order.

I said at the start of the series williamson is a far better player, smiths average will come back down for sure, look at the way kane williamson adapted his game to suit conditions and format of the game, I'd take root over smith all day long as well
