These tech billionaires believe that the world is theirs to reshape. It is clear that they see democratic principles as obstacles. The technological control and information dominance, they hold is seeing them position themselves as arbiters of humanity's next stage. This is why the likes of Musk have expressed support for polarising political figures or movements, such as Trump, Farage, and the AfD, and his calls and engagement with autocrats like Putin. They want centralised power over democratic checks and balances. We, democratic societies have so far failed to deal with this and now have the tech bros on one side and the autocrats on the other.

It's not only a scandal about mass rape, torture and in some cases murder it's also a scandal about those who hid it, looked the other way and failed to do their duty of care towards some of the most vulnerable members of society.

The thing is had Musk(or anyone else) addressed it in a more reasonable way then we wouldn't have the sh**storm we are currently having. Reasonableness got the issue virtually nowhere. If Trump has taught us anything it's that bombastic language produces results.

As for Jess Phillips I have no opinion on the specific words Musk uses to describe her. I think she is stalling for political motives. That's as far as I'd personally go in describing her actions. Again, we'd have no such stalling had these victims been middle class victims from leafy suburbia.
