Technically, an undocumented illegal migrant farm worker pays neither taxes nor housing costs, and is not subject to vaccination. I doubt Elon or his followers would trade their present existence away for a tax-free, vaccination-free life of hand-to-mouth drudgery in a tent.

That post is like a recruiting poster for the building 'jobs' in Qatar, or the forced labor scam compounds in Cambodia. But then, what else should we expect from people like Trump and Musk, who have spent a lifetime passing sizzle off as steak for their own benefit?

A cursory glance at American history suggests that our culture has a long-running love affair with hucksters, charlatans and snake oil salesmen. It also suggests that we never, ever learn from the results as a society.

Because bipedal walking is not, uh, "as easy as it looks" basically.

There's a lot of calculations your brain takes for you when you move around that we still haven't developed well enough for AI/robotics - the ones that have a normal gait tend to fall over a lot basically.

right, there are a lot of simple calculations that humans find tedious and difficult and a lot of complex calculations that humans find very easy; this is essential problem with computers/robotics/AI/excel warriors, simple math doesn't often set the world in order.

Exactly - and we have senses of equilibrium, spacial awareness and all that are abstract as ideas, let alone to program into a machine.

Another easy example is the glory of autopilot/autoland in airplanes. No pilot has the skill to do tightly manage a descent and landing on a specific path in zero visibility like a computer can. Yet no computer could manage the decision making process that allowed US Airways 1549 to land in the Hudson. That’s the reason Elon’s autopilot will never work on open roads.

*here is a great zero visibility landing. You wouldn’t know they had touched down without the altitude callout.
