Decided to see what happens to the SpaceX test launch this morning. The audio for the launch consists of an engineer and two young corporate hacks, who clearly have no broadcasting experience, spouting scripted self-congratulatory corporate-speak. I muted the audio prior to launch, because it was that or gouge my own eardrums out. The engineer can't even hide when he starts reading sheet of paper or a teleprompter.
It says something about Musk's state of mind that he has hired someone who thought these people were a good PR look. It takes a special kind of person to sound excited about a "rapid unexpected disassembly" of the booster (translation: it blew up), then play off mission failure (seems they lost contact with the launch vehicle much later in the flight) as a tremendous success.
Let's just say I wouldn't want to take a ride on the thing.
