I suppose he's probably going to the dark side, as a free agent his wages will be high and he is 29, but maybe worth weighing up? Perhaps they'd take Saha as a swap to release him in January? Atleast it would bring the squad age down slightly. Anichebe is in the same boat. If he won't sign, we could try that trade.

Alternatively, maybe West Ham would do a swap for Carlton Cole?

Someone with height, strength, good feet and a little bit of pace would lead our line better than the personnel we have for the job at the moment. Anichebe actually seemed more effective upfront against City than Saha has done for a long time.

He's always been hit and miss for me! Wouldn't swap Saha for him! Just get him on a free end of season if he wants to come!

One Swallow doth not a summer make.

Sorry, but one half decent season, preceded by 3 or 4 crap ones doesn't convince me.

I actually agree. Maybe it's taken him this long to settle in England? Maybe Coyle knows how to get the best out of him? Maybe he's putting the effort in because he's playing for his future? I wouldn't be too fussed either way, but I think we do need to make some sort of move to bring in a striker in January and I think that someone will need to depart to accommodate them.

I just watched the premiership years from the 98/99 season.

We were struggling for goals so bought in a bit of an average aging striker out of desperation.

So i sure as hell don't want to see us doing so now.

Of course if we got Elmander or Cole and they managed to do what Campbell did i'll eat my words.

But neither guy will ever be as good as Campbell was and i think i would cry if either of them came here now.

I know we don't have a lot of money but i'd rather see a youngster with potential up front than a not past it cause they never had it striker.

I think we need someone who can do for us what Darren Bent does for Sunderland, but who has a bit more physical presence. I'd love to bring Bendtner in and see what he can do. Saha and Yakubu still have some value as commodities, given their track record. For whatever reason, Saha seems to have lost all interest and the Yak can't get a game. If we're going to bring someone in, I think we need to move one of them out and use them as a makeweight.

Elmander's career at Bolton in some ways mirrors Gravesen's at Goodison. half a good season out of about 3. I'd leave well alone even on a free he'd be looking for silly wages

Why would Bolton( higher up the table than us) swap a better player for a crap one?

Gravesen was a quality player when he left for Madrid. Was not just half a decent season from him

anichebe and vaughan should be given an extended 1st team runout ahead of big names like yakubu and saha but i s`pose theyve been here so long moyes mightve seen all he needs of those youngsters- shame really coz raw enthusiasm seems to be lacking in the other 2.......... GET THEM YOUNG LADS ON MOYLES

would have elmander on a 2 year contract (no more).

He is getting on and we dont need another high waged 30+ on our books for years to come.

Plus, he only started to put a shift in when his contract was running out, sign him on 2 years, be ideal.

The mans a beast.

I love Coyle's expression at the end.
