Yes, but then again so they should. No point in either doing a deal that causes us not to be able to do anything else this summer/Jan and/or puts us right on the limit for P&S for when the accounts get signed off.

If we say it's only just another two million so we match it and then Atalanta raise it by another million before know it you could end up 3/4 million more than the original top end limit. Great if he becomes a superstar, but if he posts Maupay's stats then it will be why the hell did we overpay for this kid.

It also depends on the player himself to offer encouragement that he wants to sign for us, if he told Almeria he doesn't want to go to Atalanta regardless then suddenly it becomes simple. If he isn't fussed where he goes or prefers a move to Italy then that's not someone who you would want to keep improving the bid for.
