I wouldnt buy the Echo. It's blatantly treats Evertonians as second fiddle to the reds. The articles it posts about EFC are usually about a players favourite colour or something equally dull. The club is going through it's most unsuccessful period in history, has seen countless ground move failures and the local paper - which should be a mouthpiece for the supporters says nothing. They simply tow the party line to make sure they get access to Goodison and player interviews. Absolutely pathetic. They are an extension of the club basically.

Its about time someone in the press with some balls and a tiny bit of genuine journalistic integrity actually questioned the mismanagement of this great club. I don't know how O'keefe and Prentice can call themselves 'journalists'...pathetic.

Any blue who pays money or clicks on a link should be ashamed.

I have one slight problem here.

I thought this whole thing started from the fact that it seems that it really is a RED ECHO.
biased and all that...

when im reading these comments in echo and here im starting to feel that many think that biggest failure echo has done here is actually the fact that they arent trying to smoke our board out!

this was suppose d to be about Echo covering red half more than us, about kopites writing wum articles about everton. not about our board.

we must be careful here that this mission of ours wont be kidnapped by BU or such branch.

* investigative journalism is ok ofcourse but it isnt the main thing here isnt it?

I'd say the issue of the local paper not asking the right questions regarding the management and future of the club is more important than whether there is a bias towards the reds.

It's both.

I'm no 'kenwronger'

However, not a question has been asked over Walton Hall Park backtracking.

Unacceptable. Made worse by a blatantly biased 'news outlet'

It's the totality.

89% of Blues.

It's not a Trojan horse. It's the totality of people thinking the Echo are taking them for idiots

There doesn't need to be one catch all reason why Evertonians are sick of the Echo. Like you point out, many in this thread have mentioned the unbalanced coverage, the snide articles, the kopite journalists covering Everton stories, etc. and I agree with all of these points.

The point you make about people wanting the Echo to smoke the board out isn't entirely the case. People are pointing to the way the Echo engaged in a campaign to chase Hicks & Gillette out of Liverpool after having the audacity to deliver a Champions League, a couple of high league placings and backing the manager in the transfer market to a level we could only dream of. In the meantime, Kenwright and the Everton board deliver no trophies and a nett spend of close to sod all and the Echo doesn't make a squeak.

People want the Echo to question the club and the board as to why a club in the top 20 richest clubs in the world, playing in the richest league in the world during the richest era ever, continues to play the skint card.

People also want know why we're staring down the barrel of our third failed stadium move whilst all the time Goodison continues to show its age.

If the board can't deliver on these things then we need answers and I think the Echo should be doing its job and asking the questions necessary to get these answers.

That is because their coverage of our board is a shambles. They actively scrutinised everything that Hicks and Gillet did at Liverpool, in contrast Bill gets a pat on the back and we're told 11th is our natural position.

Amazing post mate and right in every word!

What's a 'BU Trojan horse'?

I thought we were past all that crap about treating the BU like they were the enemy?

The 'enemy' here is the EFC board for ineptness & gross negligence of duty, and the Echo for choosing not to shine a spotlight on this for reasons of self interest, then outright lying about the reasons why.

"For instance, when we restructured our newsroom in January we appointed an Everton FC editor as well as a Liverpool FC editor even though Reds’ international following will inevitably deliver us more web views and consequently more revenue."

Pretty well sums up their RS credentials...........

Admission of guilt right there

Total BS too

This article is further proof how terrible they are.
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor.../prentice-deulofeu-must-avoid-echoes-9525755?

Prentice has gone and quoted a tweet from a kopite tweeting total trash about Deulofeu and Everton, without doing his research..

"Not everyone, it seems, is thrilled by the Blues capture of Gerard Deulofeu.

“Aspas kept Deulofeu out of the Sevilla side last season and Aiden McGeady will do the same next year for Everton. He’s a puddle of runny sh***” tweeted one man crudely but colourfully.

The comment was either a lone voice, or a wind up, as is often the case on the social media maelstrom that is Twitter."

I notice Prentice hasn't quoted all the criticism the ECHO has been receiving on twitter.

So Prentice uses a tweet about Deulofeu as an excuse to waste more column inches on yet another trip down memory lane.

Well in. Cutting edge stuff. I'm sure Everton's owners are in a tailspin over this.
