I'm struggling to believe that some kopites actually said "The Europa doesn't matter any way, let's just concentrate on 4th place".

I can understand why people say we've still got a chance of 4th, and we're 6 points behind. Anybody thinking they can gain 12 points on a team who have been on great form all season honestly needs to be institutionalised.

Not it's not metnal. Nor is it mental. The best of the rest usually refers to the non-European positions, which unless certain results happen in the cup finals, is first through fifth. I've heard the term applied to us when we finished one place out of Europe.
