If we include WC & EL qualifiers than Siggy has 5 goals and two assists. It's not quite as bad as people are making out.
You also have to factor in the fact he's been played in about 11 different positions this year with about 1,000 different team mates.
I haven't just made this up either. I've supplied facts. The speedster mis-controls the ball three times as many times as the Iceman and he is dispossessed 2.5 times more.
Facts. Not opinion. I wish it was different as being wrong occasionally would keep me humble but there it is, in black and white.
So if we talk about what he’s done for Everton (I do not care about Iceland) it’s 1 goal and two assists. The one goal coming in one of the qualifying rounds as well. Once again I ask, who has more goals and assists for their club?
I tried to think like you in the summer. When debating the merits of Sigurdsson i and other posters suggested that his stats where definitely inflated by set pieces and a Swansea team playing a lot of their football through him and Llorente. Those legitimate points where countered with “oh so set piece goals don’t count do they” and “assists from free kicks don’t count either”. Well ok then, let’s simplify it right down - how many goals and assists does our maestro have for us?
Perhaps it is actually redundant to compare two very different players with differing skill sets. But in debating who has had more of an impact and been more effective for their respective side, there isn’t even a debate to be had- miscontroles and all that included.
