All I can think is that Johan somehow never played, managed his sides or watched a game in Turkey or Germany or the like.. or perhaps he never played in a Real-Barca match or a World Cup Final or a European Cup final for his beloved Ajax, I can't be sure but.. you know..

Nah. I think they meant "would" interrupt their pre-season - as it is conditional on Liverpool qualifying (at a particular juncture of the competition) but I shouldn't let the small matter of grammatical accuracy interfere with the Liverpool Echo's quality of journalism.
